These tiny spatulas have been in use since Antiquity, most probably to clean one's ears. They were often made a part of a set which also comprised tweezers, a tongue cleaner and a nail scraper. The original of this one is the Musée Cluny in Paris. The little hand on the other end serves as a nail scraper.
