Medieval game of knucklebones (nr. 912)

4 bone jacks and a wooden ball in a bag with a printed inscription. Instructions are included.
Knucklebones or jacks is a game that has never stopped being played from Antiquity to the present day, as a game of skill by children and women, as a betting game by men. The historically authentic version of the game is played with 5 "knucklebones" (actually the astragalus, a bone in the ankle of a sheep's back leg). More expensive jacks were cast in metal.
